He played basketball professionally and was an American. He was a shooting guard who played his whole 20-year National Basketball Association career with the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA).
He was a five-time NBA champion, an 18-time All-Star, a 15-time All-NBA team member, a 12-time All-Defensive team member, the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), and a two-time NBA Finals MVP. He is considered as one of the best basketball players of all time.
He has twice led the NBA in scoring and is fourth all-time in both regular season and postseason scoring for the league. In 2020, he received a posthumous induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 2021, he was selected for the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
