100 Premier League goals by Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane has etched his name into the Premier League history books after netting the opening goal of Liverpool’s clash with Watford, with an interesting fact about his PL goals also being revealed.

Watford vs Liverpool
Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off would see Watford play host to Liverpool, in what was Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge of the Hornets.

Watford headed into the game sat 15th in the league having won two, drawn one and lost four from seven.

Liverpool, meanwhile, kicked off at Vicarage Road as the only side in the Premier League still unbeaten this campaign.

However, three draws from seven meant that the Reds actually began the day in 2nd. But Jurgen Klopp and co. knew that a win against Watford would see them, temporarily at least, overtake table-topping Chelsea.

And it would not take long for Liverpool to go ahead on Saturday. The Merseysiders dominated early on with Mohamed Salah in particular causing Watford all sorts of issues.

Salah would play an outrageous outside of the boot pass into Sadio Mane who slotted past Ben Foster with ease.

Mane joins 100 club
Following the goal, as mentioned above, Sadio Mane has joined an exclusive Premier League club.

The Senegalese international’s goal against the Hornets would be his 100th Premier League goal across spells with Southampton and Liverpool.

Perhaps even more impressively though, Mane was able to net 100 goals without scoring a single penalty.

And, after netting 100 goals, it was also revealed that Mane is just the 3rd African player in history to score 100+ goals in the Premier League, joining Salah and Didier Drogba in said club.
