In 2012, Lionel Messi of Barcelona became the only player to score five goals in one game, and some will argue he’s the world’s greatest soccer player—that is, until 2014 when Shakhtar Donetsk achieved the same. To this day, they both hold the record for the highest number of goals in one game.
Given the amount of time in a game of football, the number of players on the field, and the caliber of each player on those fields, this is a feat not easily matched.
