After a thrilling race in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been crowned the new Formula One World Champion.
Following Nicholas Latifi’s crash in the 53rd lap, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton led for the most of the race after a great start, but it all came down to the last lap.
The safety car was removed to allow for a one-lap shootout, which Verstappen won thanks to his upgraded tyres. Mercedes was furious and will undoubtedly want a full explanation.
After a spectacular season, Hamilton misses out on a record-breaking eighth Formula One World Championship, but Verstappen takes his first.
